López Ribalda, Gancedo Giménez, Ramos Busquets, Saborido Apresa y Pozo Barroso, frente a las decisiones de los Tribunales de Justicia españoles que validaron el despido del que fueron objeto por el supermercado M. (S.A.),en el que trabajaban.

From 8 to 12 May I took part as a professor in the Seminar “The informal economy and the world of work”,held in the Latin American Training Centre for Employees and Employers in the municipality of Vicente Lopez in the GreaterBuenos Aires Metropolitan Area.This Seminar was sponsored by SOCIEUX+, the platform that invited me to attend as an expert, but it was also funded by the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security of Argentina.

New activities for the 2016-2017 academic year


As part of my duties as Director of the Department of Labour and Social Security Law and Director of the Chair of Immigration, Rights and Citizenship of the University of Girona, and with the help of the teams from both departments, I have planned a series of activities that I am delighted to present as follows:

1. Firstly, during September 2016 I have been invited to take part in the Residential Summer School organized by the University of Ferrara and Padova to give two lectures on "Multinational enterprises faced with global migratory movements: facilitation or obstruction of international labour mobility?" and "Multinational enterprises and the promotion of decent employment inspired by the International Labour Organization: special attention to the access to employment, training and working conditions".

The Research Group I direct at the University of Girona has specialised in the subject of migratory movements for several years, mainly through our work in the Chair of Immigration, Rights and Citizenship. Based on our past experience, we are seeking to widen our field of research to encompass any form of international business and worker mobility, in the hope of applying for and being granted a Spanish or European Project. Consequently, we are open to any suggestions or collaboration in this regard, which other entities may wish to provide.

The labour market reforms in Spain


Last week, I was invited by the Research Group in Labour Law of Pr. M. Rigaux in the University of Antwerp, to do a Lecture for the students of Law and Union reprsentatives about "The Influence of European on Spanish social law: The labour market reforms in Spain". The aim of my participation in this act was to explain the labour reforms carried out in Spain, mainly since the 2008 economic crash, and the subsequent letter sent by the European Central Bank to the Spanish Government (a letter whose contents are still unknown),which have led to an unprecedented cut in public spending and the beginning of far-reaching labour market reforms.

A new academic year (and in the Chair of Immigration)

 

I am greatly looking forward to starting the 2013/2014 academic year in both teaching and research within the framework of the University of Girona Department of Law and Social Security of which I am the Director. I am also looking forward to performing my duties as Director of the Chair of Immigration, Rights and Citizenship of the same university.
