International Seminar for Students of Labour Law (Girona)


The International Seminar for Students of Labour Law and Social Security will be hosted this year on 7 and 8 April 2014 by the University of Girona, led by Dr. Ferran Camas Roda, Professor of Labour Law and Social Security at this University.

The object of study of this year’s Seminar is focused on “Labour and social rights of migrant workers and diversity management in the workplace”. During the 2-day Seminar, participating students will work together to compile national legislation on migrants’ rights and responsibilities in the labour market and migration-related diversity management policies in business organisations. Not only will they study the legal framework of their countries of origin, but they will also have to work together to solve different practical case studies directly related to the object of study of the Seminar.

35 Law undergraduates or Master Degree students in subjects related to Law, Business, or Human Resources from six European Universities will be taking part in the Seminar, accompanied by professors from each of these universities.

The following Universities are participating in the Seminar:

• University of Antwerp (Professor in charge: Dr.  Marc Rigaux and Ms. L. Amanda)
• University of Bordeaux (Professor in charge: Dr. Isabelle Daugareilh)
• University of Belgrade (Professor in charge: Dr. Branco Lubarda and Mr. F. Bojic)
• Universities of Ferrara and Verona (Professor in charge: Gian Guido Balandi and Ms. Laura Calafà).
• University of Girona (Professor in charge: Dr. Ferran Camas Roda)

The aim of the International Seminar for Students of Labour Law and Social Security is to boost international relationships among Law students from different European countries and promote knowledge in European Law, and this year in particular, encourage better practices in the management of labour market integration of migrants.

The International Seminar for Students of Labour Law and Social Security, held this year in Girona, is funded by “la Caixa” Obra Social and the University of Girona, specifically by the Chair of Immigration, Rights and Citizenship, UdG Foundation, the Law Faculty, the Vice-Chancellor’s Office for Student Affairs, the Master in Labour Relations and Human Resources, Europe Direct Centre and the Ministerial Project on Decent Work and Immigration, led by Dr. Ferran Camas Roda.

The Seminar will be held in the Caixa Fòrum building in Girona on Monday 7 April and Tuesday 8 April. At the end of the Seminar, participants will receive a certificate of attendance.
